On March 10, 2011, the Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils (VANC) celebrated the 8th year of their organization. Thirty three of the Valley's 34 neighborhood councils attended the event at which Councilmembers Krekorian and Jan Perry received the 'Got It' award for their work on behalf of neighborhood empowerment. Three neighborhood councils - Northridge West, Valley Village and Sherman Oaks - were also awarded for excellence. Below is a slide show of the evening, which also featured Assemblymember Mike Feuer, LAFD Assistant Chief Pat Butler, Department of Neighborhood Empowerment General Manager Bong-Hwan Kim, Board of Neighborhood Commissioners President Al Abrams and hundreds of neighborhood council members.
