What else would you rather be doing on a Saturday than following along what is sure to be a spirited debate about water rates, transparency and the most pressing issues at the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power? If you answered Nothing!, then do I have just the fix for you.

Starting at around 9 a.m., the Energy and Environment Committee will hold a special meeting to discuss what lies ahead for the DWP, and we'll be there to provide live updates.

The agenda lists just one item:

A presentation from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), and the Board of Water and Power Commissioners, in connection with the LADWP’s Financial Plan/Revenue Requirements

That discussion on dollars and sense will kick off what will be a months long discussion on new rates while officials will also talk about plans to implement a  ratepayer advocate and what the public can expect this year from an agency seeking to turn over a new, more transparent leaf.
